N.M. AWMA: March 12th Meeting (second Tuesday this month only)!

The New Mexico Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA) will hold its March meeting in the Banquet Room at the Golden Corral Buffet and Grill (10415 Central Avenue NE, northeast corner at Eubank) in Albuquerque on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 (to accommodate speaker’s schedule), at 11:30 a.m. For more information about AWMA, please visit: http://www.AWMA.org/.

Dave Thomas, President of New Mexicans for Science and Reason (NMSR), will present: “Climate Change: Just Nature, or are Humans the Problem?” How can we tell man-made warming from natural climate change? Why is carbon dioxide more worrisome than other greenhouse gases? Has the “Climategate” scandal really disproved global warming? Do we still need more data to decide? Dave, a New Mexico physicist and teacher, will discuss these topics. For more information about NMSR, please visit: http://nmsr.org/. For NMSR’s Anthropogenic Global Warming Fact Sheet, please visit: http://www.nmsr.org/nmsr_agw.htm. AWMA’s N.M. Chapter would like to express its appreciation to Scott Chazdon, Solar Consultant with Affordable Solar, for his February presentation entitled: “What can I, the individual, do?” In this day and age of global warming, mass pollution, and wanton destruction of our only ecosystem, it is certainly vital to work on a massive scale. It is also imperative to work on a local, individual scale as well. There are more than 6 billion folks on this beautiful rock in space. And 330 million folks living here in America; the richest country on the planet. If only a fraction of those folks were to look to their personal consumption and usage, it could make a huge impact for the better. It may seem that there is little that one person can do, but that is not the case. Scott works with Affordable Solar to provide businesses and residential home owners an alternative to electric utilities and the coal- / gas-fired grid. Scott’s presentation showed how you can both remove your electrical load from the grid and also lower your monthly electrical bill; all with the latest technology in clean, quiet power. Following his talk, Scott took everyone outside and showed off the Solar Roller trailer. For more information about Affordable Solar, please visit: http://www.affordable-solar.com/.
